How to put BradyBoots on your Patient using conduction gel

This video shows how to put the BradyBoots onto your patient.

    1.  Undo the Velcro to open the boot.

    2. Put a dime size dollop of ultrasound gel directly on the electrode inside the boot.

    3.  Slide the boot onto the animal's paw with the electrode positioned over the large metacarpal pad.

    4.  Velcro the straps around the paw making the fit snug but not too tight.

    5.  Attach the ECG lead to the electrode on the boot.

(Note: Doppler crystals can be secured under the velcro strap of the BradyBoots)

How to attach and remove ECG Clip attachment

If you have ECG clips that won't attach securely to the ECG button on the BradyBoot, then the ECG clip attachments are what you need.  The ECG clip attachment clips directly onto the ECG button of the boot.  Once attached, you can then clip your alligator ECG clip to the attachment.  This will allow for a secure ECG attachment.  Here are the steps to attaching the ECG clip attachment.

    HOW TO CLEAN BradyBoots

Silicone boots made to insulate a patients paws and read ECG while anesthetized

    General Cleaning instructions:

BradyBoots are made with the ease of cleaning and patient safety in mind.

         FOR CLEANING BETWEEN PATIENTS

    • After each use, simply undo all of the Velcro straps.
    • Next, open the boot and wipe with a damp paper towel or cloth until all of the gel and debris is removed.
    • If the boot still has debris, simply run the boot under warm water and wash with a mild hand soap or Dawn dish soap. Then, rinse off the boot and pat dry. The boots are ready for the next use.
    • Sticky Gel strips are one-time use
    • If using a sticky gel strip, just peel it off of the boot and throw it away.

WARNING!!!  DO NOT USE HARSH DETERGENT, NOLVASAN, OR ANYTHING IRRITATING TO THE SKIN.

    Cleaning Instructions for Autoclaving:

One of the great features of the BradyBoot is the ability to sterilize the boot between patients.

Why would sterilizing the BradyBoots be necessary?

If the boots are put on a patient with a viral or fungal infection such as:

    • Atopic dermatitis
    • MRSA / MRSP
    • Staphyloccous
    • Leptospirosis
    • Aspergillosis

    How to sterilize the BradyBoots

    • The BradyBoots should be sterilized in the Autoclave at a temperature of at least 250°f or 121°C.
    • The BradyBoots must be cleaned throughly with warm water and mild soap or diluted soap. Rinse off the boots and pat dry.
    • Place the boots in a metal tray or on a surgical towel.
    •  The BradyBoots can then be autoclaved and safe to use on the next patient.

    Trouble-Shooting:

ECG not reading/Not contacting the patient properly:

    • Wipe feet clean of all debris and alcohol (if previously applied)
    • Make sure the ECG button on the inside of the boot is thoroughly covered with ultrasound/electrode gel
    • Confirm the button is properly positioned over the metacarpal pad on the patient's foot. Adjust the velcro if necessary.

    Falling/sliding off of the feet:

    • BradyBoots comes in several sizes; make sure that the appropriate size is selected for your patient
    • Toes should be moveable and palpable through the boots
    • Adjust the velcro around the carpal joint so a pinky or ring-finger can fit between the velcro and the patient

The BradyBoots are a great product, but sometimes things happen!
